What happened
Huldrych Zwingli began preaching at the Grossmünster and led Zurich’s break with Rome. A circle of younger followers — Conrad Grebel, Felix Manz, later George Blaurock — formed around him. In 1523, when Zwingli let the city council set the pace of reform, they began to break away.
