Dates and a tested lead (2026-10-31)

Only a Twig: “Catharine Zook, Aug. 5, 1801 – July 15, 1875, m. Daniel Conrad, Feb. 18, 1798 – July 18, 1882, son of Preacher [Conrad]”. Several books cite Records of Descent from John Yoder, Jacob Zook, Daniel Conrad and Nathan Smiley (Mennonite Publishing House, Scottdale), a family record covering exactly this branch: worth finding.
Lead tested, not supported: Bishop Jacob Mast’s daughter Fanny (Freni) Mast married a John Zook on 20 Nov 1796 and lived in the Kishacoquillas Valley, Mifflin Co. (her father’s account book, in A Brief History of Bishop Jacob Mast, 1911). But the book lists only two children, Mattie and Elizabeth, not Catherine. There were several John Zooks in Mifflin Co., so Catherine’s father is probably a different one.

Born Mifflin County, Pa.; daughter of John Zook, ‘the extensive land owner’ (1986 history).
