Fanny Stutzman Keim
First wife of Nicholas Keim (1768–1830); mother of Elizabeth Keim (fl. 1811) and six other children. One of the Somerset County Stutzman family (Descendants of Jacob Hochstetler (1912), appendix 9190): her siblings were Anna (b. 12 Apr 1755; m. Bishop Jacob Miller, who led the Amish into Holmes County, Ohio, in 1808–09), Jacob (whose son Jonas Stutzman was the first white settler in Holmes County, 1809), John, Christian, Mrs. Peter Miller, and Magdalena (m. John Yoder).
Granddaughter of the 1757 massacre family?
The 1912 genealogy thinks there is “a strong probability” that this Stutzman family were the children of Christian Stutzman and Barbara Hochstetler, daughter of Jacob Hochstetler (1712–1776) of the 1757 Northkill massacre. “Definite proof of this relationship has not been found.” The 1984 Troyer genealogy goes further and states that her sisters Mary (m. Peter Miller) and Anna (m. Bishop Jacob Miller), sons of “Wounded John” Miller, were “daughters of Christian and Barbara (Hochstetler) Stutzman”. If true, it adds yet another Hochstetler line (see Double ancestors).
Settled in the 1938 Stutzman book (Hostetler 1938, no. 12445)
The later book (by the same compiler) places Fanny as a child of Christian Stutzman and Barbara Hochstetler: family 1’s children are Magdalena, Anna, Mary, Christian, Jacob, Elizabeth, Fanny (12445), John. Entry: “Fanny Stutzman, Davidsville, Pa., at death, was the first wife of Nicholas Keim who was b. Feb. 2, 1768, in Berks Co., Pa., and d. Oct. 18, 1830, at Salisbury, Pa. She is buried on his farm 1 mile north of Davidsville” (his barn was still standing in the 1930s). Still a compiler’s conclusion, not a document, so kept as a family compilation.
Pedigree collapse confirmed in the tree: her sister Magdalena (m. John Yoder) is Christopher’s ancestor on the Ramseyer side.
