Life and evidence
A Ramseyer minister in the Jura, 1780
The Langnau Täufer roll (K Langnau 36, p. 19) records that Christen Röthlisberger and Barbara Steiner were married at Trondai, Moutier-Grandval, “by Peter Ramseyer” on 10 Nov 1780. So an Anabaptist minister named Peter Ramseyer was serving in the Moutier mountains when Isaac’s son Johannes was born (1780). Whether he was Isaac’s father, brother or other kin is unknown.
Named as parent in four French civil entries (1809–1817); alive and signing ‘Isach Ramseier’ in 1817, aged 70 (Staker). Lived in Neuchâtel (Les Brenets, Le Locle) and then the French Jura (Mancenans-Lizerne).
2002 Family Record (p. X, XII)
“Issak, grandson of Christian (1672), son of Christian (1700), lived in the area of Mancenans, France.” Wife: “Anna Augsburger”. The book also names Isaac’s brother, Abraham Ramseyer, whose grandson Johannes (b. 1800) married Isaac’s granddaughter Marguerite. The Christian (1700) → Isaac link is the same unverified link as in Staker.
