A Johann Bergmann at Lysanderhöh, 1884 — added 2026-10-31 by Claude
Belk (1976) p. 179: in April 1884 the Beatrice relief committee planned to send money “to an intermediary named Johann Bergmann at Lysanderhöh, in the Trakt”. Her first husband Abraham Bergmann died in 1875 and her son Johann A. was a child, so this is probably a Bergmann in-law (brother or father of Abraham). A lead to the Bergmann family’s place in Lysanderhöh. See Belk - The Great Trek of the Russian Mennonites to Central Asia (1976).
Johann Bergmann, colony head at Lysanderhöh, 1892 — added 2026-10-31 by Claude
In 1892 Joh. Bergmann of Lysanderhöh was chairman of the Saratov Mennonite colony administration (Gebietsvorsteher, Malyshevka district) and distributed American famine relief; a Jacob Bergmann was church warden at Köppenthal-Ohrloff. Same village and surname as her first husband Abraham Bergmann (d. 1875); relationship not shown. Her son Johann A. Bergmann went to Beatrice with Gerhard Wiebe in July 1894. See Church papers - Christlicher Bundesbote and Mennonitische Rundschau (1880s-1920s).
