Life and evidence
Hertzler 1885, footnote to Fam. 579; Mast 1911, Fam. 1513
A daughter of Abraham Kurtz (1753–1831) and Barbara Ritter (1749–1823): “Susan, born Feb. 17th, 1792, married to Christian Mast.” The Mast book: “On Jan. 5, 1800 he united in marriage to Susanna Kurtz, who was born in 1792 … Susanna Kurtz was a sister to Mary Kurtz who was married to David Mast.”
Birth year
Both books give 1792, which cannot be right for a bride of January 1800 whose son was born in 1802. The Mast book copies Hertzler, so this is one error, not two witnesses. The day (17 Feb) may be right; the year is probably c.1780–82.
Married Christian Mast 5 Jan 1800 (Mast book).

Open questions
- Birth: Hertzler 1885 and Mast 1911 both say born 17 Feb 1792, but she married Christian Mast 5 Jan 1800 and her son Abraham was born 1802; the year is probably a misprint (c.1780–82 would fit)
Research log
- 2026-10-31: Hertzler 1885 (Fam. 579 footnote) and Mast 1911 (Fam. 1513): daughter of Abraham Kurtz (1753–1831) and Barbara Ritter, sister of Mary Kurtz (m. David Mast); birth given as 17 Feb 1792, which conflicts with her 1800 marriage
