Life and evidence

(Hostetler 1938, no. 1)

Daughter of the immigrant Jacob Hochstetler. Taxed in her own name on the Bern Tp., Berks Co. lists 1771–1782 as a widow, near Shartlesville, Pa.; her son Christian is on the list 1782–87, when the farm was sold to Hans Fike. Her family therefore lived through the 1757 attack on her father’s farm, which is in the same Northkill settlement.
