Life and evidence

Named as parents of Hans, baptized at Signau on 20 January 1594 (K Signau 1, p. 48): "Ludi Ramseyer und Madlen Huser". See Hans Ramseyer (bapt. 1594).

‘Ludi’ in Staker’s chain; dates contradictory.

Unverified chain

Staker’s early Ramseyer generations are uncited and contain contradictions. They are kept as leads; verify against the Signau (before 1648) and Eggiwil registers now downloaded to the archive.

2002 Family Record (p. IX–X)

The Family Record gives the same line: Peter (b. 1535, Signau; wife Christina) → Ludwig (b. 1568) → Hans (b. 1594) → Ullrich (b. 1640) → Christian (b. 1672). It adds: Christina was present at a baptism at Lauperswil; the family’s children were baptized as infants (so not yet Anabaptist); Hans bought a farm in 1629; Ullrich was a saddler “who moved several times during his marriage”. The book credits Adolph Ramseyer, a Swiss police officer who researched Ramseyers, so it and Staker probably rest on the same unpublished research: they agree but are not independent confirmation.

Negative search (2026-10-31)

The marriage of Ludi Ramseyer and Madlen Huser is not in the Signau marriage register from its start (Apr 1589) to Dec 1594. They married earlier or elsewhere (Langnau, Lauperswil, Trub?). See How far back each line goes.

Baptism search (2026-10-31)

Not recognized in Lauperswil baptisms 1566–Mar 1570 (very difficult hand; weak negative). Next: Langnau 1 (1555–79) for c.1565–70.
