Life and evidence
Born at Orrville, Ohio; listed in the 1912 Hochstetler genealogy (#6976) as “Mary E., June 16, 1886”. Married Alvin C. Ramseyer Sr. 11 Apr 1909. Died at the Glendora Nursing Home, Wooster; survived by 7 daughters, 2 sons, 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The Schrock Ramseyer Story (1986) was written by her children for the centennial of her birth. She remembered the four-poster canopy bed in her grandparents Moses and Christina’s bedroom.
Her brother Alvin J. Schrock (1890–1973) married her husband’s sister Mary Viola Ramseyer (1892–1973) — the two Alvins were brothers-in-law twice over.
Through her mother she descends from the Hochstetler captive Joseph Hochstetler (c.1746–1812) — see The Hochstetler massacre of 1757.
