Peter Sprunger

Habegger, The Swiss of Adams and Wells Counties, "The Sprunger Family"

“Peter Sprunger, born November 20, 1757 at Pieterlen (near Biel), Canton Bern, … and Anna Rothlisberger, born December 20, 1762 in Kirchberg, Canton Bern. He was baptized in the Reformed Church as an infant, but became a Taufer (Anabaptist) about the time he was married. Anna was a Taufer. Peter was chosen by lot to serve as a minister, and then became an Elder. Their children were all born at La Heutte, and later the family lived on the Münsterberg (Montagne de Moutier).” Children who came to America: Elisabeth (b. 10 Mar 1785, m. Peter Habegger 12 Jan 1804), Johann Sprunger (1793–1853) and Abraham Sprunger (1797–1889).

A double ancestor: Christopher descends from him through two sons, Johann and Abraham.

Death year 1840 from the 1973 Sprunger Genealogy as cited in the vault (not yet checked). The family is said to have come to the Jura from Thurgau about 1741 (GAMEO “Sprunger”), yet Peter was born at Pieterlen and baptized Reformed: reconcile with the 1973 book.
