About
Ancestral home of the Ramseyers according to two family sources (the 1907 Ramseyer-Rich booklet’s “Eckenweil, Canton Berne” and the 1986 Schrock Ramseyer Story). Eggiwil became its own parish in 1648 (before that part of Signau); its church was founded in 1631 explicitly to combat Anabaptism. Parish registers 1648–1875 are online free from the Bern state archives (series K Eggiwil, 29 volumes).
